While it’s difficult to get accurate prices of bathroom renovations in Canberra, for an average sized bathroom (Let’s say 2,000mm x 2,400mm) with timber clad internal walls, timber or concrete floor, built post 1986 (after asbestos was used for wall cladding), we will assume the following. Strip out floor and wall tiles, rectify wall and/or floor villaboard (fibre cement sheeting), Basic plumbing adjustments to allow replacement or upgrade to wall mixer taps, basic electrical upgrade of light switches and power points, waterproofing, tiling, installation of floor standing vanity, toilet, wall cabinet with mirror, towel rails, shower head and accessories. This estimate is for labour only. Prices of Leaking Shower Repairs – Strip shower base, waterproofing and re-tile:
If your shower is letting you down, and you want to repair it to get it operational again, but don’t want to go all out with a complete renovation, then we could look at a shower cell re-tile. This is generally also required if you have cracked or loose tiles or grout on the shower base. This would be ideal if your intention is to prolong the durability of your shower with a more surgical approach rather than a complete bathroom renovation.
Also, if your budget is more restricted than allowing for a complete renovation, or you’re a landlord wanting to keep the shower in operation for tenants, or you want to do a more straight forward fix to prepare the property for sale, then a shower re-tile sounds like the best option.
Shower re-tile, waterproofing and screen reinstatement – Price range: $3,000 – $3500
What you get: We strip out the shower base tiles and first wall course. We also include best matched tiles if you don’t have spares. We will rectify any affected lower wall section and shower base, and waterproof it to Australian standards.
Re-tile shower base and affected wall course. With this we also include a new shower grate, now in a square finish with either chrome or black finish.
Then we freshly silicon seal the corner junctions with top quality mould resistant silicon, express clean the shower screen, make any minor adjustments to the door where needed and possible, and re-install the screen. Renew or repair lower wall grout as needed.

Leaking shower re-seal pricing estimate: $900-$1,200
This option is for fairly budget minded people who may be experiencing a waterproofing leak, for instance water seepage into an adjoining room, or water penetration past the screen and would like to have this problem rectified quickly and effectively.
Bear in mind, this option assumes that your shower tiles are firm and the overall condition of the shower cell is fairly sound. In this case, we may be able to arrest the leaking issue without having to re-tile the space.
What you get: We generally start with an express clean of the shower cell and screen if needed. (Better if you keep your shower clean). Removal of shower base grout, and lower wall section grout if needed.
